Covid-19: Commercial tenants beware!

A careful analysis of the Coronavirus Act 2020 indicates that the protections afforded to commercial tenants are not as water-tight as previously perceived.


Although there is a moratorium on the forfeiture of commercial leases until 30 June 2020 for non-payment of rent, the Act does not prevent landlords from taking certain actions, including Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery (CRAR), making a debt claim, issuing a statutory demand, or commencing winding-up proceedings.
